Bus Trip: Western Maryland Scenic Railroad

Enjoy Autumn in Western Maryland by taking a train ride through the Allegheny Mountains on the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Ride the Frostburg Flyer, WMSR's flagship train, on one of the most scenic rail corridors in the East. The route winds through the dramatic cut of the Narrows, bends around the legendary Helmstetter's Curve, crosses mountain streams, and climbs nearly 1,000 feet in elevation before threading through the historic 916-foot Brush Tunnel, all in just over an hour. Enjoy a 90-minute stop in Frostburg, Maryland to explore. You can use the steps from the train station or there will be a shuttle available. Then, board the train for a return trip down the mountain. When purchasing your train ticket, you have the option to purchase a box lunch that includes a souvenir lunch case so that you can have lunch while you enjoy your ride up the mountain.

We start our day early to meet our coach bus at Our Lady of the Presentation 17220 Tom Fox Avenue, Poolesville MD for an 8:30 departure time (please arrive by 8:15). We arrive in Cumberland, Maryland around 11:00. Our train departs at 11:30 AM and the train returns to Cumberland at 4:00. We will board our bus and return to Poolesville around 6:45 PM.
