Emergency Preparedness in Montgomery County, MD

During this Emergency Preparedness Presentation,  Sareem Streater, an Emergency Management Specialist from  the  Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security in Montgomery County will help better prepare you to respond to the emergencies that impact Montgomery County. Topics covered include, reviewing numerous potential human-caused and naturally occurring hazards within Montgomery County, discussing ways to limit your exposure to those hazards, and going over the key steps of what you can do to be better prepared for any hazard. The goal of this presentation is to ensure all Montgomery County residents have relevant and accurate information so they can make timely decisions when responding to emergency or unplanned events aiding in the County's goal of building a more resilient community.

Sareem Streater joined the Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (OEMHS) as an Emergency Management Specialist in June 2025. Sareem earned an undergraduate degree from Mount St. Mary’s University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and attended Arkansas State University where he earned a Master of Science in Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management and a Master of Arts in Communication Studies. Within the OEMHS Preparedness & Outreach Division, Sareem is the program coordinator for the Montgomery County, MD Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) group and leading the County’s Emergency Financial Empowerment (EFE) work in partnership with the Montgomery County Office of Food Systems Resilience (OFSR).
